Republicans Attach Anti-Choice Language to Tax Credit Bill

Concord – House Democratic Leader Terie Norelli released the following statement on today’s House Session.

“Today, the House Republicans continued to make a mockery of our once respected Legislature. Instead of focusing on economy and jobs, House Leadership attached a number of failed proposals to Senate Bills.”

“Extending the research and development tax credit is supported Democrats and Republicans in the Legislature and the business community. The House attached an amendment establishing a 24-hour waiting period for abortions legislation, already killed by the Senate, to the research and development tax credit bill.”

“This shows the continued trend that Republicans in the Legislature are willing to sacrifice jobs and bipartisan agreement in pursuit of their extreme anti-choice agenda. The Legislature should not be interfering in women’s health care at all and Republicans certainly shouldn’t be holding a jobs bill hostage in pursuit of their anti-choice agenda.”
